Washington, DC - Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) released the following statement today congratulating former Vice President Al Gore on winning the Nobel Peace Prize for his work educating the world on the dangers of global warming: “I want to congratulate my friend Al Gore on winning this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. As Vice President, Senator and U.S. Representative, Al Gore called for action to protect our planet long before it became fashionable. He spoke from the heart to friend and foe, convincing hundreds, then thousands and eventually millions that his fight should be a crusade for all of us. Al Gore deserves this most distinguished award because of a lifetime of work and concern about the earth and for humankind. I look forward to his wise counsel as we work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 60 to 80 percent by 2050.” |
