| The US Army purchased, for initial delivery in FY 02, seventeen truck simulators. Fourteen of these devices were installed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, for the Motor Transport Operator Training Course. Two were installed at Ft. Bliss, TX for use in 88M Basic and mobilization training. The remaining device went to the U.S. Army Transportation School, Fort Eustis, VA for use in 88M Basic and Advanced NCO Courses. For the Army National Guard, the FY2006 Defense Appropriations Act provided $1,500,000 to procure 3 trainers, $2,000,000 was appropriated in FY07 and $2,400,000 in FY08. A total of 15 systems have been funded but 26 are authorized. The ARNG will significantly benefit from this trainer during the unit conversions to the modularity force design in the next two to three years which will have significantly increased numbers of wheeled vehicles. Over 40% of troops deploying to Iraq are ARNG who are expected to operate equipment in theater, never having had any in-vehicle training or simulation experience. |
