| This project will achieve two major things (1) it will answer the critical need for Policy Decision Point (PDP) technology that will meet the needs for the Secure Discovery project as well as other DoD products that might require PDP technology; and (2) and at the same time it will bring IT employment opportunities which will open the doors to additional DoD projects in the state of Michigan. The human resources deployed for this project will be hired from the Michigan labor force. With a $3,500,000 in funding for year one, we expect to immediately generate 25 new technology positions in Michigan. The project will establish a DoD-certified Information Technology Center in Michigan and hence create many more employment opportunities in high-tech fields that offer income that is higher than the average income in Michigan today. Inkster's community, which is predominantly African American (~75%), with effort from the Superintendent of Inkster Public Schools, Dr. Maridada, has received many national recognitions for improving the school curriculum, graduation rate and practical training programs to create more job opportunities for Inkster students. However, the lack of job opportunities in Inkster is startling compared to other surrounding cities in Southeastern Michigan for all Inkster residents. Clearly the lack of job and industry training opportunities is causing daily out migration of population but what is more evident is that this lack of job and training opportunities is pointing to a decrease in the City's population. This request will generate 25 high tech jobs, which are much needed in Inkster, with endless possibilities of partnering with 23 higher education and research institutions surrounding Inkster. In addition to this, the proximity of Inkster to Wayne County Metropolitan Airport coupled with three major interstate highways brushing against the city, Inkster is working hard to reverse the bleak economic prospects for its residents, especially the opportunities for Inkster's professional community. |
