Dingell Calls New Window Sticker a Wise Decision

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) issued the following statement today regarding the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) unveiling new fuel economy labels, as required under the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, that will help consumers take advantage of the increased efficiency standards achieved under the Obama Administration that will save families money at the pump starting this year:

“EPA and NHTSA have made a wise decision with the new window stickers.  Consumers go to the car dealership with a type of vehicle in mind.  In other words, people already know whether they are in the market for a compact, sedan, SUV, or pickup.  The new window stickers allow consumers to compare apples to apples in order to make an informed decision.  I support giving consumers straightforward information that they can use to make decisions about the most cost-effective and energy efficient way of meeting their driving needs.”
