Dingell Issues Statement on Chrysler Announcement
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representatives John D. Dingell (D-MI15) issued the following statement this evening in response to Chrysler's announcement:
"I am pleased to hear the Chrysler is going to announce a deal in which they will pay off their government loans on Tuesday. This is wonderful news and proves what I have said all along, investing in our auto makers was and is a wise and fiscally sound investment. By investing in our autos, we were able to save thousands of manufacturing jobs and, quite honestly, prevent a full blown depression. I will continue working to save and create jobs in the auto and manufacturing industry. And we need to continue to level the playing field so that we can be the most competitive nation in the world. We have the best workers in the world and I intend to continue working to make sure they are able to thrive."
