Dingell Statement on George Mitchell’s Resignation as U.S. Envoy for Middle East Peace
Washington, D.C. –U.S. Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) issued the following statement today following the announcement of the resignation of George Mitchell, U.S. Envoy for Middle East Peace:
“I want to thank George Mitchell, U.S. Envoy for Middle East Peace, for his service to our Nation and his dedication to conflict resolution. A peaceful and just solution that enables the Israelis and Palestinians to live side-by-side has long been an imperative, not just for the Israelis and Palestinians, but also for regional peace and U.S. national security. Recent events in the Middle East and North Africa make finding a solution even more urgent. I know President Obama and his team understand the importance of this issue and I hope they will keep it on the forefront of the Administration’s agenda.”
