DINGELL STATEMENT ON THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF SEPTEMBER 11

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative John D. Dingell (D-MI15) released the following statement today in recognition of the 10th anniversary of September 11:

"On this solemn day of the September 11 attacks, we reflect that on a day that will be remembered as one of the worst for America, Americans were at their best.

"Today, Deborah and I are still amazed at the bravery of the firefighters, policeman, emergency responders, and volunteers who charged up the stairs of the twin towers or into the inferno of the Pentagon.

"We are grateful at the courage and patriotism of the passengers on Flight 93, whose ultimate sacrifice in the fields of Pennsylvania saved countless lives elsewhere in our Nation’s capital, and we are so proud of the ordinary Americans who gave something of themselves that day or in the weeks that followed, by donating their time or money.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the mothers and fathers, the husbands and wives, and the sons and daughters of those who lost family members at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in the air, whose lives were shattered that day.

"We honor the men and women in uniform who have served our country and who continue to serve our country.

“As Americans, we must reawaken that spirit of unity, of togetherness. Let’s come together and work as one, so we can get our ailing economy addressed, so we can jobs created here at home, opportunity, and a government that works for the good of the country.  We can and must. And as Americans, I believe that we will."
