Monroe, MI - Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) congratulated Sunrise Windows, a Temperance, Michigan vinyl window and patio door supplier, for reaching the milestone of 1,500,000 windows manufactured.
“Sunrise Windows is leading Michigan into a new era of manufacturing,” Dingell said. “Michigan is home to the best workers and the most innovative entrepreneurs in the world, and Sunrise’s remarkable achievement makes this crystal-clear.”
Joined by President of Sunrise Windows Gary Delman, and Mike and Gary Kearns, owners of Kearns Brothers, Inc. of Dearborn, MI, a roofing, window, and siding company that purchases from Sunrise, Dingell praised the company for its commitment to quality products that save customers on their energy bills.
Started in 1994, Sunrise Windows currently employs more than 240 Michiganders. Sunrise has added 30 additional jobs at its 105,000 square foot Temperance facility already in 2010, and it expects another 10-15 hires before year-end. Thanks to its thriving business that serves more than 800 customers in 35 states, it has been an engine of job growth, hiring more workers to keep pace with steadily rising demand for its premium, energy-efficient products.
Surrounded by a group of Sunrise Windows employees, Dingell expressed his confidence that the company would continue to serve homeowners who benefit from a tax credit for energy-efficient doors and windows under the tax extenders law, which went into effect earlier this summer. He lauded the company for its proactive approach to complying with rigorous federal standards for safety and efficiency and voiced his support for HomeStar, an incentive program that would provide homeowners rebates from the purchase of energy-saving products like those that Sunrise manufactures.
Congressman Dingell and his Democratic colleagues in the House passed the HomeStar Energy Retrofit Act in May. Home Star will create 168,000 new jobs here in the United States. Construction jobs cannot be outsourced and more than 90 percent of energy efficiency technologies are manufactured here in America.
Sunrise stands out as one of 31 window manufacturers whose products the Department of Energy grades “super-insulating,” and all of its windows meet or exceed the requirements to eligible for federal tax incentives. Sunrise’s high standards made it a top choice among customers who took advantage of tax credits for energy-saving home improvements under the recovery act, which Dingell supported as a small business friendly measure to jumpstart the economy out of recession.
“Sunrise Windows’ remarkable success proves that a bet on the American worker is a bet on Michigan,” Dingell said. “And Michigan is coming back strong, one window at a time.”
