Dearborn, MI - Today, Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) met with representatives of A123 Systems, Aztec Manufacturing Corporation, Angstrom USA LLC, The Envelope Printery, Future Tool & Machine Inc., the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center, and Governor Jennifer Granholm’s office to discuss the “Make It in America” agenda. This agenda, which was announced on July 20, 2010, by House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD-05), includes a number of bills that are meant to bolster domestic manufacturing.
“I was delighted to meet with representatives of industry, state-wide development organizations, and the Governor’s office to discuss ideas about how to revitalize manufacturing in this country,” said Dingell. “We discussed ideas related to tax policy, free trade agreements, and the availability of private credit, and how best to address them in legislation the House of Representatives will take up in September of this year.”
Dingell concluded, “I remain committed to Michigan’s manufacturers and their workers, who, together, have built the foundation for the middle-class in this country. This foundation has been weakened by the present recession, caused by years of failed Republican economic policies, and I pledge to work tirelessly to see it rebuilt stronger than ever.”
