Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) released the following statement commending the President’s plan for economic growth and deficit reduction:
“I commend President Obama for calling on all Americans to help tackle our country’s debt crisis in a fair and feasible manner. By allowing the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy to expire, the President has proposed an achievable plan that will relieve the country of a fiscally irresponsible boondoggle that never should have been enacted in the first place.
“Furthermore, the President stays true to his commitment that all Americans must share in reducing the deficit. Closing loopholes, eliminating special interest tax breaks and limiting deductions for the richest among us are necessary steps to re-establish equilibrium in our government’s finances.
“This isn’t class warfare, as some alarmists would have you believe. It’s about coming together to get our country back on track and ensuring every American – including millionaires and billionaires – pitches in and helps dig our country out of its rut.”
