Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Representative John D. Dingell (D-MI15) issued the following statement to praise the bipartisan payroll tax extension compromise consideration and passage in the House:
“I am pleased to be on the House Floor today to witness what I hope is a down-payment on a more workable Congress. I truly hope this is a lesson for my colleagues that working together on solutions for the American people is more valuable than playing politics. The American people deserve better not only this holiday season, but from their elected representatives year-round. In 2012, the Members of Congress can begin to give the people a grand holiday gift by actually working together to restore prosperity, provide jobs for the American people and address the problems related to the huge budget deficit and tremendous national debt. The American people want this and the American people deserve this. Let this be the first installment of a really important holiday gift to the American people – a working and workable Congress. Merry Christmas to all. ”
