Washington, DC - Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) made the following comments on the Senate’s passage of Omnibus Public Land Management Act, which includes a provision that would designate the River Raisin battlefield site in Monroe, Michigan, as a unit of the National Park System.
“My friends, Senators Levin and Stabenow, have done outstanding work getting this River Raisin Battlefield through the Senate. This project means a great deal to the people of Monroe County. The battlefield is a part of a great tradition and it will be a centerpiece of a great future in Monroe County. I look forward to getting it through the House.”
The Omnibus Public Land Management Act will come up for a vote in the House next week.
