Remembering Carl Pursell

Washington, DC - Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) made the following comments about his friend and former colleague Carl Pursell, who represented Southeast Michigan in the House of Representatives for 16 years.  Mr. Pursell died Thursday morning at the age of 76.

“As I go around what is now the 15th District, I think of Carl Pursell and how much he loved Western Wayne and Washtenaw County.  We worked together on several projects for the people here.  I knew that when I worked with him I was working with someone who shared a very strong commitment to constituent service and who was willing to extend beyond political boundaries to find common ground for problem solving.  I admired his courage and how he stood up for what he felt was right.  He was an honorable man, a person of fine character and a friend.  He leaves behind a wonderful wife, Peggy, and three children I know he was enormously proud of.  Debbie and I send our prayers to his family.  He will be missed.”
