Dingell: Airport Deserves High Marks

Dearborn, MI – Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) made the following remarks after learning Detroit Metropolitan Airport topped the large airport category in J.D. Power & Associates 2010 North America Airport Satisfaction Study.

“The Wayne County Airport Authority has worked very hard to keep the terminals in outstanding shape, as well as to improve the passenger experience at Detroit Metro’s terminals.  As someone who spends a lot of time at Metro, I have always found that the men and women who work there provide top-notch service and today’s announcement affirms this belief.  This service, in combination with the openings of the McNamara and North Terminals, prove how far Detroit Metro has come in terms of the passenger service.  I want to congratulate Lester Robinson and Bob Ficano for all their efforts to make the airport the nation’s best.”

The J.D. Power and Associates 2010 North America Airport Satisfaction Study measures overall airport satisfaction in three categories: large airports or 30 million or more passengers per year, medium airports or 10 million to 30 million passengers per year, and small airports or 10 million passengers per year or less.  The study measures passenger satisfaction in six key factors: airport accessibility, baggage claim, check-in/baggage check process, terminal facilities, security check, and food and retail services.  Attached is J.D. Power and Associates’ announcement with further details on Detroit Metropolitan Airport’s score.
