Washington, DC - Congresssman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) made the following remarks about the four health care events he took part in with senior citizens in the 15th District.
“During the past two weeks, I met with constituents at seniors’ centers in Ypsilanti, Taylor, Frenchtown Township and hosted a telephone town hall. In all, I talked with more than 3,000 seniors about the health care reform law. Many opponents of health care reform have been spreading false information about the bill. Despite some of these scare tactics, my constituents came to me with an open mind wanting to learn more about how reform will affect them. I found that the more folks heard about the specifics of the new law – like closing the gap in prescription drug donut hole and no more cost sharing for preventive services – the more they like it. We will continue to talk about the benefits of the new health care reform law in the weeks and months ahead. Many people do support the new law and as the benefits begin to kick in support will grow quickly.”
