Dearborn, MI - Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) made the following statement regarding the Department of Transportation and Environmental Protection Agency's announcement of final national standards for fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions.
"I am pleased that we have one strong national standard for fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions from autos. The process initiated by the Obama Administration is a success, and the Department of Transportation and the Environmental Protection Agency are to be commended for their hard work. No longer do our manufacturers face a patchwork of various state regulations. Now that the final rules are out for model years 2012 - 2016, we - Congress and the Administration - must promptly begin working on the same national approach for subsequent model years."
