Dingell Skeptical of FCC’s Responses to Classification Inquiry

Washington, DC - Today, Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) sent a letter to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Julius Genachowski expressing concern with that agency’s “third way” proposal for the regulation for broadband Internet access services.  Dingell’s letter comes two days after Chairman Genachowski sent responses to questions contained in Dingell’s May 27, 2010, letter about the “third way” proposal.

“Unfortunately, the Commission could not respond to my questions in sufficient detail,” said Dingell.  “This substantiates my fear that the Commission is proceeding along a precarious path that will lead to bad policy and result in protracted litigation.  I have urged Chairman Genachowski to abandon this effort and work with the Congress to enact law that resolves this matter.”

Dingell’s letter of May 27, 2010, the FCC’s answers to the questions in that letter, and Dingell’s response to the FCC’s answers are attached to this press release.  If you have trouble reading the attachments, please contact the Congressman’s office.
