Dearborn, Mich. – Today, U.S. Representative John D. Dingell (D-MI15) met with constituents at the Downriver Community Conference and Michigan Works Center, in Southgate. He met with displaced workers to discuss how the federal government can work to support them during these difficult times.
Congressman Dingell provided the attendees with a guidebook filled with information on unemployment benefits, food stamps, foreclosure assistance, free financial counseling, MichiganWorks! centers, retraining programs and other assistance designed to help people in this time of need. The guidebook will also be e-mailed to local elected officials and a copy has been posted on the Congressman’s website at http://www.house.gov/dingell/pdf/displacedworkerguidebook.pdf.
“Today I heard from dozens of concerned citizens ready to find a new opportunity. Things can and will get better in Michigan. I am committed to do all I can do bring jobs back to Michigan and get our economy thriving again,” Congressman Dingell said. “While this guidebook may not replace a lost job, it is designed to help Michiganders pinpoint the people and organizations out there ready to help.”
The guidebook is also available at the Congressman’s Dearborn district office.
