Dingell Tours Dolphin Facility, Calls It An Example Of How We Are Making It In America

Dearborn, Mich. – Today, U.S. Representative John D. Dingell (D-MI15) visited Dolphin Manufacturing in Taylor, Michigan.  He met with the company’s leadership to discuss how the federal government and small businesses can work together to support small businesses in order to strengthen American manufacturing.

“Dolphin Manufacturing is an outstanding example of how small manufacturers are helping us ‘Make It in America.’” said Dingell.  “American manufacturing is recovering and will thrive again.  To support that recovery, it is important that members of Congress know what resources they need to innovate, expand production, and create new jobs.”

Dolphin Manufacturing specializes in custom machining for military, aerospace, and energy applications.  The company is woman-owned and employs approximately 20 people.  During the meeting, Dingell highlighted the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) and his role in getting it signed into law, as well as federal support available for women-owned businesses.

“Dolphin is proud to be a woman-owned business and proud to be a small manufacturing business here in Southeast Michigan,” said Teri Fritz, CEO at Dolphin Manufacturing.  “We appreciate Congressman Dingell’s efforts to promote manufacturing here in Michigan.”

Thanks to the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation received $79.1 million with which to make public-private loans to small businesses.  Congressman Dingell, Congressman Gary Peters, and Congressman Sander Levin – all representing Michigan – were instrumental in drafting the Act and ensuring it was signed into law by President Obama last September.

For his entire career, Congressman Dingell has been a steadfast defender of manufacturing jobs in Michigan.  He continues to fight in the 112th Congress to ensure that American manufacturers not only make it in America, but also have the capacity to flourish and grow in the global economy through innovation, investment, and job creation.
