Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative John D. Dingell (D-MI15) issued the following statement in support of Senator Reid's compromise plan that failed to pass on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives with a partisan vote of 246 - 173:
It's time to stop the game playing. The Reid bill is a good compromise that significantly cuts spending, while also protecting our most important programs that middle-class American families count on. I am deeply disappointed in the GOP for putting partisan political interests before the interests of this great nation. I warn my colleagues that we are engaging in very dangerous business here with very real consequences. We need all the adults on both sides of Capitol Hill to come to the table and hammer out a compromise to protect this country from financial ruin.
