Congressmen Yarmuth and Dingell Wager on National Championship

Apr 8, 2013

Washington, DC – Today, Congressmen John Yarmuth (KY-3) and John D. Dingell (MI-12) announced a friendly wager on tonight's NCAA National Championship game between the University of Louisville Cardinals and the University of Michigan Wolverines.

On the line are food and libations native to the Members' Districts.

If the Cardinals prevail, Congressman Dingell will provide a case of Ann Arbor’s Arbor Brewing Company beer and lunch from Zingerman's Deli, a Michigan institution. If the Wolverines win, Congressman Yarmuth will give his colleague a bottle of Woodford Reserve bourbon and a bucket of KFC.

"The Wolverines have epitomized hard work and discipline all season, and their Final Four win over Syracuse was a true showing of teamwork and all-around good basketball," Congressman Dingell said. "On behalf of the proud people of Ann Arbor and Michigan's 12th Congressional District, we look forward to welcoming Coach Beilein and the players back to Southeast Michigan as national champions. Go Blue."

“The Cards dug deep and came back for a gutsy Final Four win on Saturday," Congressman Yarmuth said. "This team has the talent, character, and depth to make history in Atlanta and bring the national title back to The Ville. One more game, Cards."

With the stage set for the Cardinals or the Wolverines to make history, Congressmen Yarmuth and Dingell also want to congratulate both teams, their coaches, and their fans on reaching college basketball's highest level.
